Marmo di Rima
Edition of 12 + 2AP
Available at Carwan Gallery
Dioscuri side-table is characterized by the superimposition of three overlapping and misaligned fluted column sections, according to a post-archaeological interpretation of the Temple of Jupiter, from the archaeological site of Pompeii. The side-table is made in Marmo di Rima, a technique created in Italy in the 19th century to simulate natural marble: the elements designed by applying this technique interpret those found inside the Pompeian Villas, where it was common practice to use marble for architectural elements and furniture. The colors are developed on the basis of the Pompeian color palette, characterized by sharp and bold colors in strong contrast between them.
